Police said Patricia
Rayner, 62, of Lake Odessa, was driving her daughter Casey McMaster, 24, and
her 9-month-old granddaughter Madi through Park Township at 11:25 a.m. when she
ran a stop sign. The family's vehicle
collided with a pickup truck which
had the right of way, Fox 17 reported. It then hit a telephone pole
and flipped over, throwing
Rayner and her daughter from the car.

The baby remained
secured in her car seat until bystanders pulled the child out of the wreckage
and tried to perform CPR. Although emergency crews soon arrived on the scene,
Rayner and her granddaughter were both pronounced dead. Casey McMaster, of
Clarksville, was airlifted to an area hospital and later died from her
injuries.
The truck's driver,
Bryan Rotman, 37, and his two child passengers, aged 2 and 5, suffered minor
injuries in the collision
A family friend paid
tribute to the victims, telling News 8, "Pat just loved her
family. She was very devoted to her family."
Casey McMaster's
neighbor Lyle Short said he
was shocked by the news.
"They seemed to be a very happy family," Short said.
"I saw her and the baby probably not that long ago and they were busy
doing their normal routine."
A GoFundMe page is
raising money for the
family's funeral expenses. Appeal
creator Vicky Powelson said it was originally started to cover medical expenses
for Madi after she was diagnosed with Spina Bifida.
"The Rayner and McMaster families have lost too much
today," Powelson wrote. "Please join me in sending
prayers, wishes, thoughts and if possible donations to the family in this time
of great need and grief."
As of early Monday
morning, more than $7,000 had been raised.
