A young female suicide bomber, who was arrested by the Cameroon
security operatives has said that she is one of the missing 219 school girls
kidnapped from the boarding house in Federal Government School, Chibok in
Borno State over two years ago.
The girl was on the verge of blowing herself in northern
Cameroon, when the self-defense forces in the village arrested her and a fellow
female suicide bomber and handed them over to the military.
According to Reuters, two girls wired with explosives were
intercepted on Friday, March 25, 2016, by local self-defence forces in the
village of Limani, Cameroon, and were handed over to soldiers belonging to a
multi-national force set up to take out the terrorists.
“One of them indeed declared that she is one of the Chibok
hostages. She is around 15. We are now verifying, because on the Nigerian side
they have the names and photos of these girls,” a local government
administrator, Raymond Roksdo disclosed.
Two other military sources also confirmed that one of the
detained suicide bombers claimed to be one of the abducted Chibok girls.
“We need a few days to be able to confirm this information. We
have to debrief all the men who were present and interrogated the two girls
before we can say anything,” one of the military sources was quoted.
Nearly three years after a high-profile attack by the Boko Haram
militants in which the girls were taken captives, there has been no clue as to
their whereabouts.
