Emir of
Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero has survived an attack by gunmen in Kano. The incident
happened when the royal father was leaving the venue of the qur’anic recitation
competition at Massalacin Murtala in Kano metropolis on Saturday.
Eyewitness at the scene said the gunmen launched the attack by
shooting sporadically in order to scare people away but were foiled in their
mission by courageous policemen who repelled the attack ensuring the Emir was
able to back to the palace safely.
The eyewitness also revealed that immediately the emir left the
place of the qur’anic completion before he could reach the main road, a
suspected bomb was reported to have gone off in a jeep followed by gunshot from
the suspect gunmen.
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwakanso, who confirmed the
incident, said the Emir was hail and hearty as nothing happened to him, but
that three royal palace guards known as 'Dogarai' lost their lives.
