Iceland's lesbian PM is the
world's first openly gay Prime Minister. Icelandic PM, Johanna Sigurdardottir,
and her "wife" of 13 years, Jonina Leosdottir are the First Lady and
First Lady of Iceland.
Johanna Sigurdardottir is
Iceland's longest serving Member of Parliament (MP) and also the country's
first female to be Prime Minister (PM).
In 2002, at the age of 60,
Johanna Sigurdardottir married Jonina Leosdottir, a writer, in a civil
ceremony. Three decades ago, she was an air stewardess and union official, and
the mother of two sons married to a banker. Same-sex marriage was legalized in
Iceland in 2010.
